about
Isik Kural works like a photographer of sound, documenting the passage and return of time as if material snapshots of life’s temporality.
Born in Istanbul, Isik studied music engineering at the University of Miami, wandered in the glow of New York City, and eventually settled in Glasgow, immersing in a sound design and audiovisual practice. While these paths guided Isik between different projects and cities, a voice was simultaneously growing inside the artist, informed by a vision of the world in its everyday luminosity.
On “film festival,” Isik’s second single for RVNG following his contribution to the label’s Salutations compilation earlier this year, he composes a snowy serenade for winter’s lull. “Happy to see you is all, snow grows fond of the face and kisses each wrinkle in the hands,” Isik whispers between chance loops that surround his voice in a soft cocoon. Piano notes fall like the first snow of the season, fleeting and cinematic in their gentle grace.
Like a movie trailer, “film festival" invites us into Isik’s sonic miniatures–a quiet hint of what’s to come in the new year.

Lyrics
Happy to see you is all
Snow grows fond of the face and kisses each wrinkle in the hands.
GFT, most beautiful in the snow! most beautiful in the snow
Happy to be with you is all! happy to be with you
